The Tundra
It was no wonder Lore Keepers had never ventured this far north. There was nothing here—only ice that stretched endlessly in every direction, and brutal, total, unending night. Though the team hadn’t passed any signs of life for days, sometimes Li found tracks of giant, unidentifiable creatures. Once, they’d uncovered a perfectly frozen carcass of a Beast with a thirty-foot tail covered in spikes. What sort of Beast, they had no idea; its head had been ripped clean off.

Selected Beast Entries from A Traveler’s Log of Dangerous Beasts:
-
Crystalimpet
These limpets cluster on sea ice in the Tundra. Their mucus is capable of supercooling—staying liquid past its typical freezing point—so if you shake one, it might instantly crystallize.
-
Dolkaris
Though their Elsewheres relatives, the sabertooth tiger, has long gone extinct, Dolkarises remain a bloodcurdling monster of the Tundra. They can use their Lore to grow their icicle-like fangs over three feet long—large and sharp enough to pierce a man through.
-
Tuxwaddle
These spiffy bird Beasts form the members of the Tundra’s nursing staff, high-end waiters, and Permafrosk’s most famous marching band.
